Several Sugestions

Good morning,

I have several suggestions based in my real world use being a helicopter pilot.

  • Is it possible to include some satellite imagery layer with the planned route? - Sometimes there are banks of fog that must be avoid and it would be great to see more precisely how that can affect the flight planning.
  • Is there any way people can help you add/correct things on the maps? - Some VFR routes are not implemented.
  • There should be more elevation points, specially in mountainous terrain, some elevation points are not the highest in the surrounding 5 NM, in some charts at least.
  • Some frequencies are not correct, specially those in the south of France and those related to FIS. As well as in Portugal, there are not reference to FIS frequencies. To serve as an example, in some other company charts you have the FIS frequency on the map, usually after entering or leaving CTR, FIR, TMA, etc. This one should be more related to navigation than planning.
  • A lot of VFR routes in south of France are still not implemented, is it still a work in progress?
There are a few more suggestions I had concerning navigation that I will post later.

Thank you.

Kind regards.

Dear Tim, apologize for my mistake, probably my fault explaining it. What I meant by satellite imagery was Realtime Weather Satellite Imagery/Weather RADAR Imagery or at least the possibility of viewing the images through the application, I don't know if that is possible but it surely could add more power to the planning side.

Regarding the frequencies, I've flown 15 days ago in southern France and, from Perpignan to Albenga in Italy, and there were a few frequencies that were not displayed in the app. I will look into my papers from that flight in order to retrieve the used frequencies that were not shown, after I will send those details via email.

VFR below 3000 feet AMLS/1000 feet AGL in France is completely insane. Last time I was asked to change squawk code around 10 times and every time I changed frequency they asked me all the flight details as they have never received a flight plan. So it is probable that the AIP does not contain all information required, regarding VFR routes too. If you see the aerodrome charts there are a lot of VFR routes that are not displayed.
If you take a look at Cannes (LFMD), you can see that there are not VFR routes depicted in SD, although when you bring the aerodrome chart you can see those transition routes in the chart. Those are the kind of VFR routes I am talking about that are not visible in SD (both planes/helicopters routes).

Also, when you submit a flight plan, when you have VRP on your route, those will be inserted as coordinates, e.g., cruising at low level in southern France, if you only put Visual Reporting Points in your route those will translate into huge written coordinates in flight plan. Not necessarily wrong, but it would be more efficient to put the route name or start/end name of the route.

I will try to do my best providing you with the corrections and supporting those with valid official documentation via email.

Thank you for your time.

Kind regards.
